The pieces in my Metaxis series portray polarities and the tension that lies between them. Plato used the term Metaxy (metaxis) to describe the state of in-betweenness that is intrinsic in the human condition. We are all caught between universal dualities such as life and death, eternity and time, light and dark, here and there, to name a few. These inherent dichotomies are constantly pushing and pulling, this opposition is what holds them together. Metaxis is a stern, serious axiom, which I polarized with playful, lighthearted titles. By being ironic and sincere at the same time I’m attempting to capsulize the very being of human existence.
